Thursday May 1st, we continued our drive across the northern plains of Oklahoma. Our chosen route (OK State road 412) once again lead us across a vast rural area, ranches, homesteads, some abandoned, and irrigated fields are all you see between the isolated small towns. The irrigated farm fields are the huge circular ones you can see from the sky when you fly over. They appear to be mostly growing wheat and grasses for the cattle industry which is the main business in this part of the state.

About half way thru our intended travels today we came upon a strange mountain formation. They are all flat top Mesa's reminiscent of New Mexico except they are mostly red in color. We stopped at Gloss Mountain State Park and climbed to the top of one of the mesa's. You could see for miles from the top.
